The plan was to leave Tréguier on 1 June, as soon as the final crew member arrived. There were six of us: three experienced sailors, including me, and three friends with less experience.
Launching a boat and having a boat ready to cross the North Sea are two different milestones. I spent most of May in Tréguier closing the gap between them.
For more than four years, Petit Loir had existed primarily as an idea. I ordered her in February 2022; the launch finally took place on 8 April 2026. After so long, it felt strange that the theoretical boat was suddenly there in front of me.
This is just a short update to showcase the progress the boat has made. These images are from the turning of the hull, as the construction begins up-side down. You can see how sturdy the hull is constructed and get an idea of the safety reserves the vessel will have.
